The late afternoon sun is warm and welcoming as Joyce, Chris and I wander around the location that they scouted for their E-Session.  I love when clients peep out great spots full of color, texture and little nooks and crannies to explore.  Joyce told me how nervous they were about the session and I know how hard it can be on the other side of the lens.  Trust me as we walk and talk and forget that there is a camera.  Just focus on each other and this incredible connection that you share and just let me be there…..  She did, he did,  we shot…..  Here are a few of my faves =)

 The smell of the salt air beckons me as I approach their beach house.  I am very excited to meet Amy and Vinny's new little bundle.  A day of firsts for little Julia…. Today will be her first photo session and her first trip to the beach!  We couldn't have asked for a nicer evening.  A gentle breeze blowing as the amber rays of the still warm late summer sun descends.  We make our way to the nearly deserted beach and spend some time hanging out until the sun is only a memory.   I often feel myself compelled to analyze this evolution of a relationship as I engage in my sessions.  I  notice a consistency that has endured since the day I shot Amy and Vinny's wedding, although I am sure there are many!  They still look at each other and behave in a way that is so very much in love and I see this look that they share with each other  when they look at Julia.  She is most certainly the apple of their eye!  Congrats to you both, it is so obvious that Julia is beautiful and healthy and very well loved!

 It starts out as a little tingle when the baby hairs on the back of my neck feel that electric buzz so closely associated with the joy of stumbling onto a moment.  I get really excited as my hand grips a little tighter and my right eye squints a little more while I peer through the viewfinder.  Barely breathing so as not to cause any unwelcome movemen, click!  Some days can be like a treasure hunt, searching desperately for these gems while days like today are more like emotional rain storms. They did not cry tears of joy once, twice or even three times.  There was no limit on the members of family sharing in the love.  The laughter was not rationed yet given freely and often.  Click… turn around – another moment, click….  glance to the left -smiles and hugging, click…  Yes, today was not like your ordinary every day kind of storm.  It was the perfect storm!  Filled with this indescribable love between Kelly and Bob.  A bond between sisters so close that anyone nearby can feel it.  The adoration of fathers and mothers towards their children and most importantly the combination of all of these elements which makes for – click… a day I totally enjoyed documenting.  Thank you so much Kelly and Bob for loving each other so purely and for crying and laughing and hugging and kissing often  and for so freely sharing all of these emotions with us!

Sometimes the second time is a charm!  My first efforts to meet with Olga and Pavel to shoot their engagement session were greeted with the skies parting and pouring raindrops the size of peanut M & M's on us.  It was dark and thundering and lightning and although we were all there ready to go it was just not meant to be.  So we rescheduled and hoped for the best.  Luckily, not a raindrop in sight at our second meeting, a little dark and overcast but guess what, I'll take it!  Olga and Pavel are very sweet together.  A quiet and soft spoken nature about them just makes me want to lurk in the bushes so as not to disturb their serenity.  The way they interact with each other is so filled with love nad respect and these are two emotions that you cannot live without.  I feel very honored to be shooting their Wedding in a few months!

The sun is shining brightly and a soft breeze can be felt as Val and I approach the beautiful and rustic beackdrop that will soon be transformed into the location for Tina and Bill's ceremony.  We traverse the manicured lawns and I am instantly inspired by so many beautiful colors and textures.  I can already envision all of the locations and preceisely when the light will be just right for upcoming portraits.  As if I even needed this new found inspiration to fuel the already charged day!  You see, I am very familiar with Tina's family.  Having been lucky enough to photograph engagements, weddings, maternity and newborn sessions within the family has strengthened the feeling of welcomeness and has allowed us to float amongst them voyeuristically documenting the interactions of their lives.  I am at my best in this element.  When you invite us in and just let us be a part of these memories, we will in return provide you with a plethora of timeless and emotion invoking images.  So Tina and Bill, Muwahhhh!  From the bottom of my heart, I wish you both an amazing lifetime of beautiful moments and kudos to mom for making the most adorable matching bridesmaid dress for Dusk!  You are all little pieces of what continues to be the puzzle of my inspiration…

Jill + Paul {E-session}

The first thing I noticed about Paul were his piercing blue eyes gazing back at me.  They seemed to see right through into my core.  I was taken back because  they are the same color as my father's eyes and not that I liken Paul to my dad at all but for a moment I felt vulnerable like I do when I'm in his presence.  I know how much is involved in choosing the right photographer to capture these moments and I know that this was an important decision for Jill & Paul and I wanted to make sure that we had a great session.  The second thing I noticed was how when in Paul's presence Jill relaxed comfortably into his arms, they laughed easily, chatted candidly and just enjoyed the moment.  When I look at these images I just can't get past the genuine smiles and hearty laughs that are so well expressed.  These are some of the things that make me smile and I look forward to many more moments like these on the day of their wedding!
