I had a blast hangin with Kelly and Jon chillin in the grass as well as roaming through hallways and bars =)  I can honestly say that we even hung out for a few in the bathroom, now that's a first for me but what the hey,  the wall paper was cool and we couldn't pass it up.  They are just two fun loving and easy going people and made it really easy for me to catch them in a few snuggles!  The wedding is quickly approaching in June and I'm sure that we are gonna have a ball!

Swoosh, ping, swoosh, pang….  The sound of rain hitting my window and cars driving through the accumulation.  Doesn't look good…  I click the app on my phone for the weather channel and touch the weather by hour tab, hmmmmm, interesting.  Rain giving way to sunshine around 5:00 pm.  Perfecto! I'm meeting Sarah and Tim at 5:00 pm for their E-Session.  Okay weather channel, I'm trusting you.  It was no surprise to me that the storm clouds gave way to sunshine right on cue as we traversed the manicured lawns to begin our session.  I would have expected nothing less than things working as planned for Sarah.  She is a woman after my own heart!  Attention to detail, sweet as can be and she knows what she wants.  Not to mention that in each and every one of our communications and meetings has been an absolute joy to work with.  Tim is her perfect balance.  He had me cracking up but more importantly I saw how his wit, charm and humor completely compliments Sarah.  All you have to do is plop them next to each other sitting, standing,  whatevah.  It didn't matter because no sooner were they within inches of each other you were bound to witness this beautiful series of tender emotions mixed with laughter.  So to you Sarah and Tim, I loved hanging with you and I feel like you really just let go and allowed yourselves to show me so many sides of your beautiful relationship.  This is what it's all about =)

Darkness gave way to bright, golden light causing me to squint as we walked through the entrance to the gardens.  Mid-day sun, not so forgiving in it's efforts to wrap light around us.  I'm sure the farmer's are thankful for the recent rain as well as today's sunshiny skies however I am not a farmer.  It's funny though how what can at first seem like a deterence becomes so inconsequential when you have two people like Jaci and Steve. So full of humor and fun!  We fought the light, we embraced the light, the winds blew, we embraced the winds. It's always a pleasure to be able to get to know the personalities of my clients while shooting.  After all that is the best benefit of doing an E-Session.  What's even better is when the conversation just flows and you can laugh and joke and feel comfortable.  I knew that it was going to be a great shoot when Steve and I started joking back and forth about my subliminal suggestions…  Ha, ha, "now Jaci, do you think you can climb that tree…sure we can even though this branch is poking me, no problem..  so how bout tossing that squirrel and chasing it?  Ok..we totally did not toss squirrels, I promise!  This is a "you had to be there – kind of funny".  I do know though that if the squirrels were up for it Jaci and Steve would have =)  All in all we had a great day shooting and I cannot thank them enough for being receptive to just enjoying each other's company and letting me capture a few sides of them!

The rain held out just long enough for us to meander the streets and capture these images for Stacy and Chris.  I'm so excited to be shooting not just this session but the wedding in 9 more days.  I remember the moment that I met the both of them.  I was capturing the beautiful wedding day of Chrissey and Mike and here at the reception we chatted a little about how much they loved a certain style of photography and the images in Chrissey's guest book.  Lucky for me another fab couple, Rose and Mike were right their to pipe in (I'll be shooting their wedding this year also).  So it's going to be like a reunion in less than 2 weeks!  What I love about Stacy and Chris, that's super easy…. I love how easy going they are, how up for just rolling with it and being in the moment, I also love that they have great taste in brew pubs but most of all I love how easily and how quickly Stacy can just snuggle into Chris's arms and in a seemingly effortless motion give me more than I need in terms of moments to capture!

So, Jen…. Where do you want to do your E-Session?  Hmmmmm, Cindy, wherever you think.  Schweeeeeeet!  That's my favorite place!

Jen and Payton are so exceedingly sweet and fun together.  I just thought I would throw that out there.  You see, sometimes you have to work yourself into a session and get your groove on.  Not these two.  From frame 1 you could just see how comfortable they were.  I don't just mean comfortable in front of the camera, I mean comfortable with each other.  Not afraid to just have a good time and break a few laws with me.  Yeah I said it, we broke some laws but it's all good.  I know the po-po =)  They are my peeps.  All kidding aside, I thoroughly enjoyed hanging with the both of them and am looking forward to their wedding in June in Maryland!  You both keep me inspired…

I have been asked by numerous clients how I come up with some of the cool locations that they see on the blog.  Well, the truth of the matter is that most often i don't really come up with these locations.  You see, so many of my clients are devoted blog readers and want the coolest or most different or a texturally fantastic location and they scout the areas they want to be photographed so that they can be different.  I L-O-V-E this!  Now don't get me wrong, of course I have a bag of secret locations or shall I say, an iphone full of Geo Tagged hidden spots that I can pull out at any moment but I love more than anything when you have a vision and go with it.  It's your shoot, your personalities.  Dress to showcase this as well!

Now Referrals, I can't say thank you enough to all of my wonderful and amazing clients who refer me to their friends, family and co workers!  I love referrals so much because aside from the obvious, a referral means to me that I will be coming into contact with someone like yourself.  We refer to people who we think will like the service we are suggesting so that means that I am being suggested to someone who is going to be a great fit for me.  Now, I know I have a tendency to ramble but I just have to make sure that I say how much I value my clients and how at times some become more like friends and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support!  So thank you Michael and Deb for booking the family portrait which lead to Jen & Andrew's maternity session, then 2 baby sessions, Janell's Engagement cards -Wedding-Trash the dress and then to Debbie for sharing all of these images which lead me to Lauren and Adam!

Lauren, both you and Adam have such a cool vibe, I could photograph you all day long!  I think you picked a great location that gave me so much inspiration.  There were too many that I loved to post them all =)   You were so much fun and up for everything, but I kinda knew you would be!

One of my favorite moments during an E-Session is when the transition occurs from knowing the camera is there to genuine emotions due to being close to the one you love, having fun and forgeting any shyness or apprehension you may have had to being photographed.  I secretly jump up and down inside when I sense that this is happening.  I can't talk enough about how so very important it is to just allow yourselves to be silly, loving, romantic, fun and receptive to sitting, standing, running, laying down – whatever is suggested if you want the types of images that you have seen or loved.  Yes, people are looking at you and you know what they are saying?  They are saying wow, look how cute those two are or they are smiling to themselves as they recall a time or a person that made them feel the way you feel.  Love has a wonderful and magical ability to make even the snarliest of Philadelphians  smile or honk or yell at you, only to wish you well!!!

Marisa and Mike, besides being so completely adorable together, it is so easy to see how much you A-D-O-R-E each other.  Your smiles, laughter and embraces today make me look forward to this Summer when I will have the pleasure of shooting your wedding!  I can't wait =) So on to my faves…

There are times like today when personalities really show through!  I look at these images and everytime that I see Amy laughing or a little mischievous twinkle in Joe's eyes, I smile…  Such fun, laughter and love of course!  You can see it all and that's the most that can be asked for as a photographer, for you to feel enough trust that you expose your feelings.  When this happens it is truly a wonderful thing.  So here's to you Amy and Joe!  Thank you for allowing us to catch a little glimpse into your wonderful relationship.

 xoxoxo

Anna + Jaren {a Proposal Session}

posted in First Comes L-O-V-E

Wednesday January 14, 2009

It was a crisp 35 degree evening with a wind chill of 26 degrees. I'm bouncing around from one dark and shadowy corner to another as I try to envision the best spot to shoot from. I sip my hot coffee and as I exhale I can see my breath leaving my lips in short puffs of smoke like air. City hall shines like a beacon in the night and the city is beautifully illuminated. It is quiet except for a few over zealous visitors running up the Art Museum steps, hands thrusting to the air in Rocky like fashion, I can hear the "Yo Adrianne"s," along with giggles from those that are actually entertained. A family approaches the tree and as the father lines up the children they attempt a family portrait. I offer to take the pic and soon they are on their way to a warmer setting. A woman approaches the top step and I watch her with her camera shooting and it clicks in my head! Here's my alibi!!! Oh yeah!

I ask her if she is going to be around for a few minutes would she mind pretending that I am taking pics of her? You see, I have a client who is proposing tonight and It was essential that I did not use a flash because the proposal is a surprise in the dead of night on top of these very steps. She agrees to be my accomplice. So like ninjas we wait and from a distance I see headlights approach and then the car parks. As two figures clad in dark coats stroll towards the tree I knew that the time was now.

Hmmm, doesn't the tree look beautiful Anna? Oh wait, this isn't just a beautiful stroll after dinner and we aren't just here to see the sights…. Jared drops to one knee and you guessed it, proposes. I was full of adrenaline, snapping away at my accomplice who was standing near the tree(but really at the unsuspecting Anna.)

I just love this pure and beautiful reaction!

Will she say yes?

Of course she does!

As Anna admires her ring, I think she notices that the camera is now on her and she smiles this smile that just genuinely grabs my heart and I feel so happy for the both of them.

Congratulations Anna & Jared! I'm am so thrilled to have been a witness to this amazing moment in your lives and I wish you both many more warm hugs and smiles on seemingly cold winter nights!
